Return to Main Dial Up Page  Current Modem Pool Information

This is the definitive page for current dialup numbers for Missouri State University modem pools.  Modem numbers have to change occasionally or new modem services are added.  When a change does occur, it will be posted here first.  If you wish to publish our phone numbers, please link to this page instead of reproducing the information!

Long Distance Page     Long distance charges will apply if you dial a number outside of your local service area!  The 521 and 522 exchanges are local Springfield exchanges.  Participation in MCA (Metropolitan Calling Areas) agreements may vary for some telephone companies causing these exchanges to be a long distance call.

Locally Serves is the location of the actual dialup pool and calls from that city are local, Dialup Service indicates the dialup pool in that city, Phone Number is the number used to reach the pool, Total Lines is the total number of dialup modems in the pool, Idle Drop is the time after which the modems will drop your connection if you're not actively receiving or transmitting information, Absolute Drop is the total time you can stay connected to the pool before it will unconditionally drop your connection in an attempt to let someone else use the line, Peak Limits indicate if usage of this modem pool is charged against your peek usage time (click the head icon below), and Speed & Type indicates the maximum speed and modulation type used by the dialup pool.

Springfield Dial-up is divided into three sections:  off-campus, off-campus express, and on-campus.  All of these pools are services by a single Cisco AS5400 named "Denali".

Mt. Grove has four dial-up lines connected to a Cisco 2621XM named "Canberra" which has an internal modem card.  Four additional circuits are available should usage rise enough to dictate an expansion of service.

West Plains has a single modem pool consisting of AS5300, named "MontBlanc" with 23 useable connections to the 48 Microcom modems.  Additional 24 modems can be added at West Plains by ordering another PRI communication line.

Personal Usage Do you wonder how much you've used the modems?  The peak limits aren't as restrictive as most people believe.  View your personal modem usage statistics.
