Wireless services
will be unavailable after August 13th without client changes!
On Saturday, August 13th, Computer Services Networking will change the SSID
used for wireless connectivity from "Missouri State University" to "airbear". This change is
prompted by the University's name change and users must change the SSID in their
wireless configurations on August 13th to retain wireless services.

Wireless SSID Changes
Computer Services Networking will start the process to change the wireless
SSID, or Service Set Identifier, from "Missouri State University" to "airbear" on
August 13th, 2005. Because of the University's name change from Missouri State University to Missouri State University, a new SSID is required.
Computer Services Networking will launch an upgrade worm to make the change at
approximately 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 13th which should finish in less
than 10 minutes.
Unfortunately, it is not possible to have two SSIDs on the same network and,
therefore, it is not possible to migrate from "Missouri State University" to "airbear" and allow both
to function for a period of time. Therefore, the University's network and
server "down-day" was chosen to implement this change. Prior to
8:00
a.m., users may connect as they do today. Users connected during the
update will loose connectivity when the access point they are using is modified.
After about 8:10 a.m., users will be required to use the new SSID to connect.
Each client's configuration is different in how to configure the SSID.
Please refer to Computer Services User Support's
documentation or contact Computer
Services User Support at 417-836-5891 for assistance. Email will soon be
sent to all registered wireless users with this information in an attempt to
reach all affected users prior to the change.
