Video Conference Connections

Gatekeeper and Proxy services:

To obtain priority video services provided by Missouri State University, you must follow the following guidelines:

Calls are limited to a maximum of 384K of bandwidth.

Register your video codec with Missouri State University’s gatekeeper at 146.7.4.40.

You must register an E.164 number with the gatekeeper.  This is the number other users will use to call you.  Our current procedure is to create an E.164 number by using the 5 digits of your campus phone extension as the 1^st 5 digits of your E.164 number and then adding at least 1 digit to the end of that number.  For example, if your phone extension is 68329 you could use 683291.  If you are conferencing with someone outside of Missouri State University, they may register with our gatekeeper to place calls to you.  You would have them register with your 5 digits, 68329 as the 1^st 5 digits and then give them a different number than yours for the last number.  So for example you could give them 683292 or 6832910.  If you have questions please feel free to give me a call.  Please remember that no two E.164 numbers can match, just like you can’t have the same phone number as another person on campus.  If you assign identical hostnames or E.164 numbers to your video codecs, one of them will be rejected when attempting to register with the gatekeeper.

Please remember that this is a new service and changes to the registration process may be necessary in the future as new services and equipment are added. 

MCU Services:

Multipoint conferencing services are provided at Missouri State University to assist with Distance learning classes and intercampus meetings.  If you need to schedule a multipoint conference or class, please call for assistance.

ISDN bridging services:

To provide connections for analog phone callers, international video calls that need ISDN services, or video users outside Missouri State University that may be utilizing traditional ISDN video equipment, we have an ISDN gateway that will bridge connections between ISDN and IP.  This equipment connects the ISDN call to one of our MCU’s, so this call must be setup on our MCU to make the connection.

Video callers will need to use far end camera control to join their conference.

Phone callers will need to enter a numeric ID to enter their conference.  This needs to be pre-configured on the MCU.

Please call for assistance if you need to use the ISDN services so that we can be certain to have your conference set up correctly.  MCU conferences can also be scheduled in advance and dial out to ISDN connections.  This type of connection may result in long distance charges to be paid through Telecommunication Services.  Please call for assistance with arranging this type of conference.

Video Conference Recording Services:

The addition of recording equipment has provided a tool for instructors to record classes, and for meetings to be recorded for someone who cannot attend.  It also provides web streaming opportunities, and archiving if needed.  The files can be copied to your computer for storage, or other uses.  If you need to use this service, please call for assistance.
